Our windows are built in casement, awning, fixed/shaped, gliding sash, and any combination thereof. This allows filling larger areas with light, adding centrepiece feature windows, and most importantly, ensuring the most convenient and functional operation and ventilation mode.
Casement Windows
Casement windows are hinged at one side and open outside to 90 degrees using a crank handle. They allow for maximum ventilation and ease of cleaning from the interior on either side when open. When closed and locked using a secure multi-point lock system, they are virtually impervious to air and water infiltration.
Awning Windows
Awning windows are similar to casements but are hinged at the top. This allows keeping them open for ventilation even during light rain. They also feature triple compression weatherstripping, providing a snug and weatherproof seal from the elements and temperature extremes.
Fixed and Shaped Windows
Where large areas need to be filled with glazing and there is no need for ventilation, fixed (or architectural) windows work best. They are also convenient in combination with operable lites for a custom functionality. They can be built in custom shapes as unique design features, or as transoms/sidelites for doors or other windows.
Bay and Bow Windows
Bay and bow windows protrude outside. They are made of several panels protruding outside, and allow expanding the interior and bringing in more light. They also work as decorative exterior elements, adding old-world charm to your home, reminiscent of classical manors and cottages. You can configure a bay or bow window in many combinations of operable and fixed lites.
Double Slider Windows
Double Sliding Windows are composed of two sashes that slide in the frame from side to side to allow for ventilation. They are particularly convenient in limited spaces, where the windows should not protrude in or outside. They are a breeze to clean since both sashes can be tilted in for easy access to eigher surface.
Double-Hung Windows
Double Hung windows are used in more traditional urban or cottage-style homes. These windows slide up and down effortlessly inside the window frame, being convenient in that they allow for easy ventilation while saving space. Like the double sliding windows, either sash can be tilted in for easy cleaning.

The manufacturing process of all Energy Star® certified windows installed by Northern Comfort Windows and Doors are audited by an independent accredited certification body and approved by Natural Resources Canada. Our windows and doors carry the Energy Star® label showing the specific climate zone for which they are rated.
